Ok Whovians: How did the Weeping Angels change? When the Tenth Doctor first encountered them, he described them as beings that would kill you in a nice way, by placing you in a different timeline to live out your life. However when the Eleventh Doctor has faced them, they’ve changed and will now just kill a person outright. Why is that?
I watched the opening ceremonies long enough to be disgusted by what I saw. Our American delegation wearing outfits that made them look French. This was a huge fail on the part of Ralph Lauren and the USOC. If the goal was to make us look weak, to rob us of our national identify, then they succeeded. The only other main point of disgust I had was in that NBC chopped up the presentation of the ceremonies here in the states. There was a lot more going on in the ceremonies based on what I saw here on Tumblr yesterday than what NBC showed. It also seemed like NBC had a lack of sponsors, as they ran the same adverts over and over during the commercial breaks. The last complaint I had was with the commentary. Rather than showing some of the more spectacular parts of the show, they merely commented on it, made jokes that were not very funny and over explained other parts of the show and generally chatted throughout the rest of it.
The show leading up to the parade of nations was really well done. It was nice to see a celebration of British culture that really has helped to shape the western world. It would have been nice if NBC would have spent less time cleverly pushing Obamacare by telling us how wonderful the British healthcare system is. Keep politics out of the games, NBC. They literally took every chance they could to insert political comments, statements and histories wherever they could. This needs to be a time of unity, not a time to remember that England and Argentina doesn’t get along.
My favorite part of the show was Rowan Atkinson’s performance. It was a brilliant display of the kind of humor England is famous for. The tour of England’s contribution to music was well done, though I’m still scratching my head as to why they inserted the TARDIS sound in to “Bohemian Raphsody”. With the contribution of “Doctor Who” to England’s pop culture, you’d think that the Doctor would deserve his own tribute. There was indeed supposed to be a rendition of the Doctor Who theme, along with a video presentation of the 11 actors to play “The Doctor”, but it is my understanding that it was cut from the performance.
Overall, despite NBC’s treatment of the 2012 Olympic Games Opening Ceremonies, this was very well done. While my favorite presentation remains the 2010 Winter Games opener in Vancouver, this was very well done.
So my son and me discovered yesterday why do we like so much Mordin in Mass Effect…

[IT IS RUMORED THAT] in May, IDW are to publish a Doctor Who/Star Trek: The Next Generation crossover series. Featuring The Doctor, Rory, Amy, Captain Picard, Worf, Data, Geordie LaForge, Deanna Troy, Will Riker and the rest. And that this art, featuring the Doctor, Rory and Amy on the bridge of the Enterprise is a cover that will be used in the series.
The fact that this would be specifically the 11th Doctor meeting specifically the TNG cast has me very interested.

Loved seeing Rose, Martha and Donna as holograms! Would have been more appropriate if they would have had Sexy as the Emergency-I-Need-To-Talk-To-Someone-Hologram.
